Stubborn dogs: which dog breeds are stubborn?

Some dog breeds are said to be particularly stubborn. They are quickly called stubborn dogs, although they are not disobedient for malicious defiance. The four-legged friends in the list below usually have their own heads - but are (nevertheless, or precisely because of this) extremely lovable. As soon as four-legged friends do not obey, they are considered "stubborn dogs", it is due to misunderstandings in human-dog communication and upbringing when dogs act stubbornly. However, some dog breeds need more consistent training and greater incentives than others to listen to the commands of their favorite people.

Beagles are often stubborn

The beagle was bred as a hunting and pack dog; his main task was and is - if he is used for hunting - to independently follow a track and to drive the prey back to the hunter with his beagle friends. This instinct is also in the blood of the four-legged friends, who are kept as family dogs. Therefore, you have to express particularly clear, unambiguous commands with the beagle and practice them consistently.

He also needs sufficient workload, for example with nose work, obedience or other dog sports and intelligence games. It is important that you challenge and encourage him both physically and mentally, otherwise he can actually become a stubborn dog. The good thing is: Beagles are usually not averse to edible delicacies and can be "bribed" wonderfully with treats.

Dachshund: Small dog breed with great self-confidence

Dachshunds were also bred for hunting; they were originally supposed to track down foxes and badgers, penetrate their structures and scare them away so that the hunter could kill the animals. In addition, dachshunds, such as beagles, should track tracks independently. When it comes to their tasks, it is advantageous to be stubborn, because people cannot help them in tracking a track and building foxes or badgers and the dog has to make its own decisions. The term "stubborn dogs" can therefore also be a compliment.

This means that Dachshunds still make their own decisions today if they don't receive clear instructions from their humans. You won't get very far with the small "stubborns", rather help - you can't say it often enough - loving consistency and positive reinforcement. In addition, dachshunds get bored and come up with "stupid thoughts" if you don't employ them properly. Like the beagle, a dachshund appreciates nose work and obedience training.

Dog is stubborn? Raise four-legged "stubborn"

If a dog does not obey, it is quickly called "stubborn". However, this is ...

English bulldog tends to "stubbornness"

English bulldogs are actually very nice, good-natured dogs. They are difficult to get out of their calm and like to take it easy. Conversely, this means that you also have to be patient and persistent in raising the fur noses, otherwise bulldogs are stubborn dogs. Convince your bulldog that it is worth it for you to follow your commands - but be careful with treats when choosing the reward, because the dogs tend to be overweight.

Are Chihuahuas Stubborn Dogs?

The Chihuahua is easily underestimated due to its small size and cute appearance. This means that he is not challenged according to his intelligence, curiosity and understanding. In addition, many tend to put too few limits on the confident little guy because he is so cute and cuddly. Chihuahuas also tend to bind themselves closely to their favorite people and to demand attention from them accordingly.

It often happens that the cute cheeky little ones act very jealous when their dear heart draws their attention to someone else or something other than the Chihuahua. However, stubborn dogs are not necessarily the small fur noses. They just need more love, patience and consistency than other dog breeds that are less stubborn, and enough activity - they enjoy agility, dog dancing and other dog sports and they also like to learn various tricks.

Jack Russell Terriers have their own will

The Jack Russell Terrier, like the Dachshund, Beagle and other terriers, is one of the dog breeds that were originally bred for hunting. They were always expected to think and make decisions independently, so that they first had to learn to listen to their people. Although terriers are stubborn, they love to learn and are enthusiastic about a wide variety of dog sports and tricks. This takes time and commitment, but those who are willing to use both and deal with these great four-legged friends will be rewarded with a loyal, loyal companion.
